Not an early start!!! We met an Indian guide, who was very well acquainted with the archeological ruins we were about to see. He was very well informed from a historical point of view. We went by auto rickshaw to the ruins of the old English garrison in Lucknow. The grounds were impressive, as was the ruins of the siege of Lucknow, when the English garrison was besieged by the Indian army. It was so interesting to hear the details, and see the remains of the buildings. It is a huge area. I took pics of the trees, and grounds too. From there we went to the Bara Imambara....a mosque on a really grand scale. I took lots of pics. The gate was grand, as was the mosque itself. It was a Shia muslim memorial to one of their spiritual leaders. We went up the stairs to the high balconies, first looking down into the huge structure, then walking along the top of the building and viewing the sights of Lucknow. There is a labyrinth of stairs, ascending, and dark passage ways. Quite an exotic adventure. The pics are impressive. Then back to the hotel, for a quick lunch, and off to the trains!!We board the Swarna Shatabdi Express for Delhi. We sat in regular train seating instead of the sleeper trains we were used to. They served us snacks, drinks, and a full evening Indian meal. I slept a lot. We arrived in Delhi at 11 PM, and took the tuk tuts to the Good Time Hotel...lol!!
Have a "good time" Dave!! LOL
