We were up early for a 6:30 AM start to see Taj Mahal. However, it was intensely foggy. The fog did not lift. We went for tea, then a walk, but still, at the gates of Taj, you couldn't even see it!! So we returned to the hotel ( I took a pic of pigs feeding!! LOL) packed, checked out, and at this point, we still hope to see Taj before we board the train at 4:30 PM. Ok...SUCCESS! We went to the Taj. It is stunning, although we have all seen pics of it before. The back of the Taj faces the river, where we were the day before, looking at the back of it. The crowds weren't too bad. I have so many amazing pics of this queen's mausoleum. Our guide, Raja, was very good, and pleasant. It is not a religious site, although there is a mosque right next to it, on the left, for the use of those who want it. Three of us went with Raja, who is a Muslim, and he showed us how to pray.He gave me one of those pill box hats that Indians wear!! It was a moving experience on the mat. The Taj is all white marble of course, with amazing inlaid designs as you will see in the pics. The dome on the top is a double dome, so it looks way smaller when you go in. The entry gates and surrounding wall are attractions in themselves. To the right of the Taj is the guest house, and it has every convenience for visiting folk in the bygone days. I recommend this wonder of the world to any aspiring tourist. Then we went to the station, and caught the train to Jaipur. A meal was provided, and it was a pleasant trip.
