December 5 Delhi

Above is Rajghat: Mahatma Gandi's funeral pyre. He was cremated here and his ashes scattered into the Ganges as is Hindu custom.
 Humayun's tomb above....upper level only
Inside the huge building....red rocks used in construction.
Above is a pic of the Lotus B'hai temple. Amazing architectural achievement .

Above pic of the India Gate in Delhi.
Human's tomb ....part of the upper level only in a huge park....all grand scale. Below is a pic of the B'hai Lotus temple. It is very impressive, and well lit at night. I went inside, and took pics and said some prayers for a friend of mine who is B'hai.
Early start again. The hotel was not bad. I said goodbye to our leader, Abhi, who had served us well. He arranged a taxi for me for the day, and suggested places to see. The taxi driver took me to the INDIA gate, and Presidential Building. We were not allowed to get too close, due to global security issues these days, but the architecture was very impressive, British colonial. You will enjoy the pics. Then he drove me to Rajghat....the site of Ghandi's funeral pyre. I believe his ashes were scattered in the Ganges, but he was cremated here. Then we went to Humayun's tomb. It took about an hour, and was very impressive. School kids everywhere in Delhi, from India Gate to this place. Humayan is a very early Indian ruler. It was on a grand scale, and I enjoyed it very much. I decided to skip lunch, and we went straight to the B'hai Lotus Temple. It is an amazing piece of architecture in the shape of a lotus flower. I went in and said some prayers for a B'hai friend of mine. This building is very impressive. We got stuck in traffic ( surprise!!) and it was the usual hooting, and jockeying for position. Lanes don't work at all in India....take a chance everywhere....pedestrians in between cars, scooter, and motor bikes trying to get ahead of cars. I came back, freshened up, and started to catch up on this blog. Then I went to a meeting with the new G Adventures leader....actually she will join us tomorrow. The group is about 14 people..way bigger. We got briefed, had dinner together at an Indian restaurant, and went to bed for a very early start the next day.
