Noisy hotel room with nightclub below, but had a lovely final breakfast with Gordon, Trish, bride, groom and Isle of Wight friends. I walked to train station, and took the trip to Romsey. Spent time with the family, did the final packing, and had supper. Ros and Rog took me to Winchester, where I boarded the National Express Coach to Heathrow. The taxi ride from there delivered me to the cheap hotel overnight. Tomorrow taxi to Heathrow, and flight to Canada. It is now time to end the trip.
I am reminded that overpopulation of this planet is almost beyond the stage of no return. No human solutions will probably ever be found. There is enough to ponder about this issue: living longer, not enough resources to feed the masses of young people in places like India, Africa etc. We are constantly distracted by world politics and issues, and forget that this issue will end the human race as we know it, and we can't find a solution, despite our scientific advances. Gordon is writing a book on these issues, and as an erudite evolutionist he has world experience of future scenarios, but a solution????
A blog is only a blog if you communicate with others. I want to thank all those who have viewed this blog from October 26 2015 to July 16 2016. In addition, I would like to thank the generosity, friendship and love of family in making my trip a trip of a lifetime: friends in India, from Uday, to Guna and family, to the yoga teachers in Mumbai, Vinod in Coonoor, Yogi Vishveketu in Rishikesh, and Sheimugan at the Ayurvedic Retreat, to the many many Indians I met who connected with me, to the G Adventures tour leaders, to family in South Africa: Johnny and Lani, Brendon and Roxie, Hilary, Barbs, to the Intrepid Camping Adventure leaders in Botswana ( Richard and co ) to Don and Carrie in Zim especially, to Rob in Ulverston, Ros and Rog in Romsey, to Gordon and Trish on the Isle of Wight, to Rob and Sara ( newly married). There are many many more people with whom I shared time, and was honoured to meet, especially Zimbabweans. The current unrest in Zim is distressing, and I hope it will hasten change there, but I doubt it. Change has been a key for me personally, and it applies to countries as well. I hope that this journey has changed me positively, and that I have grown through many amazing experiences, and some painful experiences. I will now need time to process the huge learning of the past eight and a half months, and go forward from there. My first task is to find a permanent place to live, and I will be staying with Randi and Mike Lee until I can rent or own a condo of my own. I owe a huge amount of gratitude to Randi and Mike, but also to all the people I have met. Life is rich, but people and culture give meaning to the beauty of nature. I wish the very best life has to offer to all who read these words.
Have a wonderful week. Last but not least: thanks so much to Anne Gibas, my patient, and wonderful German travel agent of Moosetravel on this journey.
NAMASTE ( may the good in me, salute the goodness in you )
