Wednesday July 6 Isle of Wight, UK

A great breakfast of back bacon and delicious French toast and maple syrup. What a treat!! We needed to work off the breakfast as we all went for a long walk to the Red Squirrel Trail to Pedaller's cafe, which is a cycle cafe point for island cyclists. It was perfect weather, sunny and cool. So relaxing, walking. We had a coffee at the Pedaller's cafe, then walked on to the Garlic Farm. I have been there before with Gordon and Trish. It is one of the best garlic farms in the world, growing all kinds of garlic. We had an elderflower cold drink, then checked out the garlic restaurant that serves gourmet garlic dishes and chutneys etc. Being refreshed we began the long walk back to Sandown where Gordon and Trish's flat is. The countryside is gorgeous, with blue skies. Sandown is such a lovely part of the Isle of Wight. On return to the flat, we relaxed, had a nap, then got ready for the evening dinner outing. We took a taxi to Keats' Cottage where we had a four course meal, with different pairings of New Zealand wines with each course. Each wine was explained to  us, and the dishes were excellent. The main meal was duck with port sauce, and was delicious. Dessert was great, and we enjoyed great English cheeses and crackers. The evening was fun, and meal gourmet. On return, we watched the Wales/Portugal soccer game on TV. What a great day of fresh air, exercise, great food and company. This is an excellent place to retire to!! Thanks for checking in.
