At 11 AM I met Brendon and we had a coffee at the Blond and Beard. Katy, the blond, called Margo, her mom who was nearby, and Brendon and I went to meet Margo. We met at the put put place. Wow, so long ago, but we both remembered each other. I met Jasmine, Margo's foster daughter, who was a delight, and Margo's friend. Soon after, Brendon and I set off for Cape Point. The weather was great, and it was a lovely drive along such spectacular coastline. I took about 140 pics the whole day, and I share a few here. I could not remember much of my last visit to Cape Point, which is supposed to be the point at which Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, but now they are saying Cape Agulhas is the southernmost tip of Southern Africa. Regardless, the scenery was more spectacular than I could remember. Brendon and I climber to the main Lighthouse, which can be seen 63 km out to sea, and then took a path hundreds of feet above the sea, along towards the point itself. The vegetation here is succulents, shrubs, no trees, and a recognized heritage site. Some of the plants here aren't found anywhere else in the world. The walk was awe inspiring! Lots of viewpoints along the way and we eventually got to another lighthouse right on the rocks at the point itself. Fantastic to look at the ocean in all it's vastness to the horizon. Then, we climbed back up to the main lighthouse, and down to the shop/restaurant area. We were in the mood for more walking, so we climbed down a path towards an amazing beachy bay, looking down hundreds of feet to the sea. The air was fresh, and we walked on boards, and bare rock, and climbed another promontory to view more of this nature reserve. There was a walk right down to the beach below....very far down, but we had so much walking we walked back to the restaurant for a cool drink and ice cream. Then, we drove back along the peninsula towards Muizenberg. However, the route we chose was blocked, as it seemed that there was an accident somewhere along the way. So we returned via Chapman's Peak ( with the gorgeous views of Hout Bay, and where the road was cut into the cliff face!!) We eventually reached Muizenberg, and Brendon went home, and I went to dinner in town, walking up the 99 steps to the B & B! Both of us had a fantastic time, and these memories will last for a very long time.Thank you Brendon for taking me!! Nothing can beat mother nature in all her glory! Thanks for checking in.
