April 21 Harare

Relaxing day. After breakfast, I went for an hour's walk to a park, then came back. It was hot but not too bad at all. Then I went with Don to Environment Africa while he bought some parsley plants, and talked to his colleagues. When we returned I went with Carrie to the local supermarket, which is very posh. Then we returned home and had lunch on the lawn. We all had a nap, and then the tennis folk arrived at 3:30 PM. Don and Carrie have a lawn tennis court. We played barefoot and it was a bit shaded by then and very pleasant. Two friends of Don and Carrie came and although my tennis is pretty awful, I enjoyed the experience. We had a lovely carrot cake and tea afterwards. Then I went for another 20 minute walk, but stopped on the way at Mary Jane's home. Carrie thought I should see it. Lovely 2.2 acre property with impressive trees, massive tropical garden, with banana trees, all manner of tropical plants, even a guava tree, greenhouse, swimming pool, and all season tennis court. Water comes from a borehole, and they collect rain water in a huge holding tank. Now it is dark, and I am getting organized with the blog. I will share family pics tonight with Don and Carri.
Above: on my walk....lovely yellow Cassia flowering trees
Above: Spathodia flowers at close range. Lovely flowering trees here. There are jacaranda trees everywhere, and the whole place will be a blaze of purple when they are in bloom in November, but I have missed that!
 Below: the lawn tennis court
Below: Having tea after the tennis. Fly cover over the cake!!!!
Above: I was given a Baobab pod ( fruit). I ate it as a kid. Below I cracked it open. It is LOADED with vitamins and is a powerhouse of nutrition . I will eat it everyday now!! Tasty and tart!! I will bring Baobab powder back with me. Carrie has some...it tastes just like the seeds. You suck one of the seeds which is coated with the white powdery powder. Better than blueberries!!
