February 10 Rishikesh.

Up early, had a hot shower, and got to Yogi Vishveketu's class early, so lots of blankets, and bolster etc. Meditation was before that. His classes are so excellent. I plan to write down the techniques he uses. Lots of mantra ( sung) pranayama ( breathing with movement) in every class. He said yoga should be a work in, not work out!! Liked that. Breakfast was not a good experience. Enough said. Came back home, organized, and then left for a walk over the bridge to buy provisions, some yoga pants etc. However, I went to the German bakery cafe for a small lunch but they kept me waiting so long that I left. I went over the big pedestrian bridge, which is covered with monkeys climbing on the steel cables. They sit so so close to you, and people take close shots of them. Monkeys live on our hotel roof and the ashram too. Two ladies in our guest house had monkey guests who came into their room for fruit. I now keep everything closed. The building is like a jail to keep the monkeys out. The bars over the windows don't stop them, so wire netting over the windows does!! I have had no trouble. But I plan to buy paw paw to eat from a shop nearby, so I will be careful.

I met a lady that was an earnest spiritual seeker ( too saccharine for me) and we went for lunch at the Ramona cafe. It was excellent actually. Then home and rested. I was exhausted as I had had a Swedish massage ( cheap ). After supper I organized to prepare for the early morning yoga...up 5AM for 6AM start. ( Meditation is at 5AM, and a bell rings to announce the start. I get there very early, and we all drape ourselves with blankets, cushions etc. I am now settled in here, happy with accommodation, food( sometimes) and great yoga. Rishikesh is not a safe place to be at night  as there are so few street lights and it is cold, and lots of holes to fall into on the road, which is always under construction.
 Above: my balcony....monkeys come here!
Above: pedestrian bridge for motor bikes and monkeys too.
Above, not monkeys. Yoga places abound here!!
