Early start 4:20AM. Taxi took off at 5:30 AM and we had breakfast somewhere close to Chennai, that is taxi driver, Guna and myself. Flew to Delhi 10:30 AM, and big delay but eventually took off to Dehradun. Haggling with a taxi over prices, and got to the Ashram. Would have been so hard to find if I had no taxi driver who knew it. Got oriented, and am in a guest house next to the Ashram. It is called Buddha Hall or the Hermitage Hotel. I had a ground floor room, and nearly froze....from the heat of Pondy to the cold of the Himalayas.....not adjusting too quickly. Very exhausted but had a tour of the ashram, and met a few people. I stayed for supper. It is incredibly cheap for everything here. Supper starts with a Hindi sung prayer, then we all sit on the floor with a little stool for food. You collect plate, utensils from outside, and leave shoes out too. You are served, and mostly it is very quiet. All vegetarian food but very healthy of course. I moved my things next door, and settled in for the night. It was a very long day of airport frustrations......again my patience levels have to be improved!! Very very tired......
