Fallen behind with the blog. Did 3 1/2 hours of yoga. During the yoga class we were visited by about twelve monkeys. There are three large windows at the front of the room, and we are on the upper floor, so they become part of the class!!
Surin, the Tamil guy from Canada and I went to hear Moorji. He is a spiritual teacher from overseas in the Indian tradition: dreads, and is Indian, and Jamaican or whatever. It was well over 2 1/2 hours. People came up to ask questions, and he answered. Never seen so many people. He has a devout worldwide following. Surin and I were not really impressed, although the spiritual philosophy was resonant. We chose not to go again, as it was daily. We went back in the tuk tuk, and bought some supplies, and had a meal. In the evening, Surin and I went to see an astrologer, rather he did, and I last in on it. Amazing. Both of us were not impressed with her readings. Surin believes in astrology, but was disappointed with the response. He is very curious, and questions everything. I like that. We then had a meal, really nice veggie platter, at the German bakery/cafee. Delicious
.As we returned over the Laxman Juha bridge, the holy cow decided to walk across the Ganges with the huge crowd and motorbikes, and monkeys on the bridge. Did I tell you that the holy cows go to the Ganga beach too. Didn't see them do the spiritual Ganga cleansing though!!!! We have at least 3 ashram cows, who are fed with leftovers from ashram food. We have several ashram dogs that decided this was a good place to live. Did I tell you that Surin and I fed the huge monkeys in front of the Laxman Juhla bridge? They take the food from your hand, but DON'T try to pet them.....strictly there for the food, and nothing else!! Every building is a monkey playground.
Surprise: at 2 AM in the morning I got a birthday call from Ian. I managed to make some sense, and it was great to connect with him, and hear all about the hectic life of a CA in LA!
