Thank you for coming on the journey with me. It is not even half done! Did I tell you that the locals here speak Tamil, and some speak English, but most don't speak Hindi, testament to the diversity of cultures in India. Generally darker skins, those whom I have met are friendly.
I wish you all the best in 2016.....all your personal goals achieved, or at least most of them. Yoga is my spiritual focus, and I am now on a journey with Vinod. Today he was dressed all in orange, complete with orange hat!! He truly lives yoga as a lifestyle. Most of us don't. He is not in it to make a lot of money, but gets lots of spiritual rewards in his work. I am hoping to leave Tea Nest on Jan 6 and go to the forest, Devashola, a yogic retreat place. Vinod does the yoga, and there is lots of walking in the mountains. Please hold thumbs that Tea Nest will release me to go.
It was a quiet day, as last night was quiet. I needed exercise, so walked to Bedford ( there is a Bedford in South Africa, where my parents lived!!) It was about 35 minutes of walking, lots of uphill walking, as we are in the mountains. I met no bison on the way!! I walked around Bedford, and went to the Sims Park, which is a gorgeous Botanical Garden with stunning trees. It descends down into a valley. The locals were boating and taking selfies!! I enjoyed it, and then walked home, so I got in some good walking. Again no bison.
I got a tuk tuk to the Gateway Hotel and met Vinod for pranayama. It was great. Anuloma viloma ( familiar to yoga teachers) bumble bee breath, and lots of really good breathing techniques done with movement of various body parts. We had two hours. So reasonable. Afterwards, as we had done yesterday, we watched the sunset. This is a real spiritual moment in India. How often do we nurture our souls this way?? Then as the day before, we went shopping, this time for tissues and food. Bought lots of dates, raisons, walnuts, pistachios, cashews all of which are so reasonably priced. This for travelling food. Then he took me home, concerned that I would meet a bison, and of course we did!! So, no night travel to Tea Nest. We also encountered a wild boar, helping itself to a pile of garbage. Tomorrow he will come here 7:30 AM, and I will be taking notes so that I can build my own pranayama practice. Meditation has to begin.....has not yet!! You would enjoy the mountain peace at Tea Nest. The other folk here are so quiet.....doesn't seem like a hotel.....so so laid back.
Strelizias found here.....amazing
Arum lilies in the Sims Botanical Park hothouse
The amazing trees, here a Eucalyptus, very old, in the park
Above and below in the Park....New Year's Day lots of visitors
