Good breakfast. Headache pills helped. It was not a good night. I spent the day on the phone, back to the police station to notify them of the IMEI and SN. Then I found a tailor to fix some pants. I waited and it was very pleasant to chat to the guys at the sewing machines. ( Women don't do the sewing, guys please note!) Off to buy various needed supplies, all of which needed patience. I tried the bank, and again the bank refused me money. My go to guy at my branch is away, so I have no way to even contact my bank. The bank manager said there is no way to resolve this...it has to be my bank. I have enough funds. Anyway I have contacted a good friend, who will make some calls for me. Canada is a long long way away from here. Very little money can be stretched here. I am not yet down to the last rupee!! There was money for a haircut. It was a highlight of the day. The guy was so good, and I was so pleased. The haircut and wash was $6 so the tip took it to $8 He was very pleased. At least my looks have improved, and I feel a bit better.
The Bay of Bengal is the sea out the front door of the Guest House!!!! The staff are teaching me some basic Tamil words, and they enjoy the role. Especially entertaining to them is teaching me their names, some of which are quite hard to pronounce!! I am making progress at least.
I returned for lunch which was nutritious, and quite nice. Back again to try and contact a phone company to make a call to Canada, but that did not pan out. Also took a tuk tuk to Apple Store, which was very frustrating, and needed lots of time, and lots of patience, and did not prove very effective, but at least if it is stolen and brought to this place, they will know the phone is stolen, and can call me. The ride back was commuter congestion par excellence, and my taxi driver lost it with a guy who was blocking the way. Traffic was very slow, mostly at a stop, but eventually got home. An hour's walk along the beach front has got me into a better mode, and I am now resigned to my phone fate. I went into a beach bazaar, which was very very crowed, but interesting. Then home to get the blog updated from the fiasco of the last few days. I truly hope that the next two weeks here will prove to be better, and I can get a workable phone. Please send me some good vibrations to help me move forward!1 Thanks for checking in. I hope photos will happen. Flowers are amazing here.
