Up early this morning to the sound of intense bird song, and the conch, which blows regularly. It did so last night too. It is some spiritual ritual from the Hindu temple nearby. Hindus have thousands of Gods, and each community has their own selection. Some commonalities are Ganesh, the Elephant God of prosperity, significant to most Hindus. Common to India is the vibrational aspect, hence the conch, the Buddhist bell that you ring. All have spiritual significance. I am going to Dr. Sundara and he too believes that there is a vibrational aspect to the cosmos. Totally proved by modern physics, and that is how he goes about holistic healing. I go for the nutritional part this morning very early, as the roadwork starts at 9. They close the road after 9, and the journey is twice as long, also now it will be 30 minutes total. It is cold, and I have my coat on and always shower in the morning just to warm up. Mist on the mountains again....maybe here to stay. India is a place to be openminded to possibilities spiritually.
Ok, so the road was open and we got there 9:15 AM for 10:15 AM, so I meditated in the yoga hall. Then the massage guys came and called me for another massage. Dr. Sundara had prescribed a special herbal mixture for me. Unlike a western massage, the oils are the most important ingredient to be absorbed by the skin. The therapists were very good, and oil goes in your ears. You start with a very thorough head massage. This is very important. Not my thing but I'm here for my needs. Men wear a muslin pouch and there are no western sheets to drape you. ( Too much oil ) The therapists massage in unison, each doing a leg or an arm. Again, most of the oil is off, and you don't feel oily. I then went for a nutritional consultation with Dr. Sundara. He advised many foods to eat regularly, moderately or foods to avoid. Some of my favourite foods are not good for med.( they may be for you though). One size does not fit all in the nutritional field. So afterwards, I met my taxi driver who had been waiting patiently, and we took one of the therapists into town ( had an urgent family issue to deal with), and then I sorted out my payments and plans to leave on Tuesday. I came home, was too tired for yoga, so slept, and had a 30 minute walk. I have just got back from a 25 minute walk. I was in time for the temple ( he rang the bell ) so I got an orange tikka with a red centre. I didn't stay for the rituals. I saw a herd of about 19 bison grazing weeds, some quite close to me on the slopes.. Mist is now thick again.
Ayurvedic diet is NOT spicy, as you might think. I am usually aware of healthy foods, but not all of those are good for me. The best choice is vegetarian, but he made non veg recommendations too. I will be searching out mung beans ( dal) as these are excellent for me.
The trudge up to the top, not for cars!Dr. Sundara's home on the top
Lush tea bushes
Closer to the top
More mists on the top.....surreal!
