January 24 Pondy on the Bay of Bengal

I spent the morning doing my yoga practice, and personal meditation practice. Then I read. By 1 pm I was ready downstairs, and Guna, my friend picked me up on his motorbike, and we went for lunch at a restaurant. It was outside. Service was poor, and the meal was ok ( non veg) but not great. We left, and he dropped me off at the guest house. I took a nap, and read till 4:30 pm. Then the evening routine of an hour’s walk along the beach front. The weather was very breezy. We actually had rain in the morning, and it has been an unsettled day. I showered, read and went to the Ashram Playground for the first time for the group meditation. There I met an old Indian man, who was friendly, and took it upon himself to direct me about Ashram meals etc, and the Ashram website. We looked onto the playground and there were middle aged men and women doing the Mother’s yoga. Someone was directing them. They were in formation and walked in step on the sandy playground courtyard area. They stopped from time to time to swing their arms, or do various yoga moves. After that many people entered and stood on the sandy playground. The lights went out and we meditated for 15 minutes. I sat on a bench with the old men, and the others stood and meditated. Music played, and there was a short talk recorded by the Mother. After, the old man showed me where the Bureau was so that I could eat Ashram food. I had also decided to offer my services to the Ashram school the next day. I was advised to be at the school at 11 AM. As I walked home, I noticed that the Governor’s house ( very ostentatious ) was draped luxuriantly with coloured lights. All government buildings were similarly draped with hanging strings of coloured lights, including the walls of the park, all in readiness for Indian Republic Day on January 26 )
