March 21 Muizenberg, close to Cape Town

Early 6:15 AM start. Brendon, Buster ( his large woolly dog) and I went for an early morning walk along the beach. It was stunning for me to see the scenery, in the soft early morning light. Sand between the toes, sea lapping your heels, shelly beach at times, gulls, spectacular mountains…..what a treat. Paradise found! Great exercise for all of us particularly Buster. On our return, I met Kirsty, Brendon’s sister, who lives with them, and a friend of Brendon’s, Graham, who boards with the family. As it was a public holiday,we all went for another walk along the huge gorgeous sandy beach, ostensibly to surf, as Muizenburg is a surfer’s mecca, particularly great for any beginner surfers. The wind was up, so we decided not to surf, and headed for a coffee shop called the Blond and Beard. The restaurant is owned by Katy Jane, daughter of Barb’s daughter Margo. After a wonderful brunch, we walked home, and had a good nap!! About 3 pm we went by car towards Hout Bay. The scenery is totally spectacular, as my pics show. This is wine country: vineyards galore, and oak trees. Soon we arrived at Groot Constantia, a famous winery in this part of a huge wine producing area. We purchased a wine tasting pass, and spent happy time in the sun, sipping wine, and reciting poems that we knew!!Back on the road again,we stopped off at various points to take pics. The sea cliffs and views into this awesome bay are breathtaking. One windy viewpoint at the entrance to the bay was especially memorable. Then we drove on,winding around more lovely bays, eventually stopping for a supper at a restaurant along the way. After dark we drove back home. What an inspiring day of perfect weather in God’s backyard. You would have loved it. I share just some of the many pics. Wish you could have been here too!
