I wanted to rent a car, but so much was packed into the day that this never happened. I went to Rhodes Alumni office. They were very helpful, and got me lots of info about my plans. I updated my alumni info. They arranged a tour of the campus for me on a golf cart. Great trip around. I would not have seen the many many new residences. So many trees on campus....took lots more pics. I actually met a music lecturer Tim Radloff about Rob's piano. He put me in touch with some family friends I had forgotten: Ishbel Sholto Douglas, Ron and Priscilla Hall. Great to meet these people again! Had a quick supper and went to the Anglican Cathedral to see a practice including the Grahamstown Cathedral Choir, and the St. Andrew's/DSG highs school kids all singing an Easter Cantata. I met the choir director of the cathedral too. From there I walked to the old Drill Hall to see a concert by the Grahamstown Music Society. A brilliant black violinist, and a great cellist. It was even better, as I got to sit on the front row with Ishbel, Priscilla and Ron, who were great friends, and loved my mother, Eunice, who lectured in the music dept. Ishbel has retired from the Rhodes Music department, and is a lovely lady.
New Rhodes residences
Above: Cathedral choir....great singing!!
Above: relaxing....girls in uniform, boys too. They did a great job: accompanied by organ. Below: Myself with Priscilla, Ishbel, and Ron after the concert, with the black violinist ( awesome) and the cellist.
