Arrived 6:45 AM this morning. Good flight but 2 3/4 hour delay. Lots of time waiting in airports. We left Mumbai at 2:20 AM!! Meal very poor. I got the National Express bus, and Ros and Rog met me at the bus terminal in Winchester, and drove me back to Romsey. Had a good time visiting with Ros, coping with jet lag, going for an hour walk. My stomach has shrunk, so I try to eat much less, and am trying to develop a spiritual practice of eating less, of stopping before I am full. Indians practise eating less, and Ayurveda recommends it. Rob skyped with Ros and I tonight, and I am off to bed soon. More flowers on the walk!! Beauty is a spiritual awareness issue for me. It is a rainy day in Romsey but roses are now out. Very tired and heading for bed. Thanks for checking in.

Tuesday June 28 Departure: Tamil Nadu to Mumbai to UK
Up early for yoga. I went for the last walk of the Pemberley mountain loop with some of the new guests from the Ayurvedic retreat. Right after breakfast, I bid farewell to the other guests. We all became quite connected, as often we met in the sun in our bathrobes, waiting for our treatments. Made a good friend of Mary Brooks, a Californian lady.
We helped each other with navigating daily life at the retreat. It was fun meeting people from Germany, US, UK, Singapore, Indian guests etc. My taxi driver, Jagan waited outside the retreat for me, and drove me down from the mountains to Coimbatore. Driving down hairpins, is a uniquely Indian way, catering to many huge buses , trucks etc. I am quite trusting of regular traffic situations that would shock you.
On the road Jagan stopped so that I could take a pic of this lovely red flowering tree.
Jagan found me a very reasonably priced Coimbatore hotel, that locals would use. As I checked out of the retreat at 9:15 AM I stayed at the Sky Lite hotel for about 6 hours before going to the airport, which was literally five minutes away. I read and relaxed in my room, for a very very reasonable price. I decided to go for a walk for a change as lots of sitting was coming up. The main road was so busy, and I decided to just walk into the residential area close by. I always use my very basic Tamil to greet locals. They all love this when you try to speak their language. I took pics of guys removing broken concrete in small baskets. This is hard work in the heat of Coimbatore, no wonder these guys are not obese. Like most Indians I have met, they all love having their pics taken, and don't want to miss out, so more pics were taken!!
Further along the road I noticed a very garish pink house - see the pic. Standing outside was an elderly guy. I got into conversation with him, and he was ready to chat. We were going by his elderly neighbour who also wanted to chat to a foreigner. I found them really interesting. Both wore dhotis ( long white traditional wrap around ). Both shortened the ankle length wrap to a knee length one. They said both ways to wear the dhoti are cooling. The one guy was 76 and his name means"shining sphere, a religious reference. The guy on the right is Kannon, also a religious name. They told me about their families, who were successfully launched into careers and family. I so enjoyed learning about them, their way of life. Both were relaxed, just standing outside the pink house No evidence of western stress- they were certainly living " in the moment".
Above: Shining sphere on left, Kannon on right, both in dhotis.
I walked back towards the hotel and met an Indian lady in front of a nice home. She told me her daughter lived in Edmonton. So immediately we got talking. She invited me in, and we sat on her verandah. She is a professor of accounting, and most friendly and pleasant. We exchanged emails, and I will contact her daughter in Edmonton. Here is her pic.
Her name is Rajeshwari, and the home is really upscale. She has a servant, whom I met. She brought a pile of pink flowers that she had bought at the market, and was using green thread, and green leaves to make a garland ( mala ).
We talked about lots of facets of Hindu and Indian life. This is one of the great unplanned moments of travel connection that made this holiday so well worth it. People are fascinating. Rajeshwari took me into her home to show me her Hindu shrine. I took a pic ( below) The shrine is in a special place designed into her home.
Then she offered me food: lovely local apple juice, gorgeous local mango, an Indian sweet, and local crunchy biscuits made of dal ( bean protein) and rice, so spicy and healthy. She packed up more for me to take....so generous!1 took a second mango home to eat later at the hotel.
I noticed a very elderly guy, sleeping on a bed on her verandah. He is 87, walks 3 k daily, and is a devoted Hindu. He gave me a blessing. Note that he wears body paint and tickkas. He agreed to be photographed. She said he was abandoned by his children, and she invited him to live on her verandah. He never wears a shirt, except on colder days occasionally. Coimbatore is hot, but she said he won't live in a room as it is too stuffy for him. No blankets are used!! In the pic you can see the frame of the bed next to the car.
Above: making the malas. Very therapeutic making malas. Both men and women make malas.
I took a tuk tuk to the airport, 5 minutes away, but waited over 4 hours. We should have left earlier but there was so much rain in Mumbai, so it caused congestion there, and delayed us.

Monday June 27 Last day Ayurvedic Retreat, Coonoor
Great day of yoga and pranayama. Treatments were for relaxation. I did the oil bath relaxation massage. You have warm oil dripped and rubbed over you ( not face). The massage table has channels along the side so oil can drain. There are 40 herbs in the oil for skin to absorb. It is very relaxing. The two men look after you, regularly drain the oil from the table. When you turn over, you have to be careful as the table and you are very very slippery. When done, you are washed in warm water, and the green paste which removes the oil. Very relaxing, a first for me. Then in the afternoon I had the relaxation oil drip. It isn't really a massage but you have a blanket over you on the table, and oil is dripped onto your forehead. It is very relaxing: warm oil of course. I nearly went to sleep. The oil is dripped right to left. Soo relaxing. I am most fortunate. Afterwards, they put oil in your hair, and put a white bandana on you. You have to keep it on for two hours. The oil is good for you.
It was great to eat vegetarian food again, and not be on weight loss. I avoid rice, but it was good food. Met lots of new people here: from US, India, UK, Germany. I packed today, and prepared to leave by taxi tomorrow for Mumbai and the UK. Thanks for checking in.

Sunday June 26 Ayurvedic Retreat, Coonoor; Second purgation day.
Good evening. Sunday purgation went fairly well. No problems. I have lost over 10 pounds, but need to lose more. I don't want to put it on again. I can do yoga poses again, that I couldn't do with the extra weight. There was no yoga or meditation or treatments today. I read, and relaxed. It was great to eat a proper dinner but I refuse rice and too many cars. Last day at the retreat tomorrow. Thanks for checking in.
Above: the tea flower. Note the green round fruit. Locals open it and eat it!!
Above and below: Jack fruit: south Indian fruit. Elephants love them. They are so tasty, like a really strong flavoured banana, and sweet. Very nice with a big pit inside!

Saturday June 25 Ayurvedic Retreat
Up early for yoga, ghee, then a walk. Treatments went fine. Hungry for decent food again. i went into Bedford this afternoon for shopping, phone recharge and bought a few things. Nothing extra to report today, except the good news that I drank my last 90 ml of ghee. You don't feel great on ghee, but the yoga and treatments help. Purgation tomorrow, and I am done!
Thanks for checking in.

Friday June 24 Ayurvedic Retreat Coonoor...monkey business!!
Felt so energized this morning on so little food. No breakfast of course only 90 ml of ghee! Yucky to drink, eat the fresh lime to take the taste out of your mouth. There was a terrific wind storm in the early hours this morning, without rain. It was very noisy. Debris everywhere now, lots of work for clean up crews. The power went out of course. I loved the yoga this morning: we do some quite challenging poses. Understanding what the teacher wants is usually a bit of a challenge, but we get through fine. I went for a windy walk on the usual mountain loop. Well there was a huge tree downed right over the road totally blocking in. I crept under it to continue walking but the tree was entangled with electrical wires. I came back to my room to and started blogging. Well an enormous monkey ( looked like a baboon) walked right in!! I yelled at him, but he took his time leaving. Never leave your door open. I do, as I want light and fresh air. At night I have a window open but the monkeys are in the trees by then.
There has been no power or internet all day but by 4 pm everything was working again. Lots of German tourists come to this place, and they frequent India all the time. The women guests get oil dripped on them ( one of their treatments ) and also have an oil bath! Thank goodness the men don't do this...lol!!
Good day with walks. I'm on the weight control diet. Thanks for checking in.

Thursday June 23 Ayurvedic Retreat Coonoor
Sorry no exciting tourist details. Just an ordinary day at the retreat. Time to relax , read, do the yoga, meditation, treatments. The doc checks you daily. We are always up early, as Ayurveda says get up with the sun. Of course we do, and do the sun salutation in yoga right away. The ghee can be exhausting on weight loss. It detoxifies by drawing toxins out of cells. Steam rids you of those toxins. More details, just ask me. It has been a draggy day, as the ghee makes you feel down. Exercise perks you up but your body is working hard to digest the ghee. My stomach is shrinking at last. Wonderful to do things without a fat tummy in the way.
Early night as I was very tired. Thanks for checking in.

Wednesday 22 June: Ayurvedic Retreat, Wellington, near Coonoor
Just a regular day at the Ayurvedic retreat. Treatments, yoga etc. I am on the weight loss program so no rice or desserts. The big loss is no fruit. They serve fresh guavas, fresh coconut juice which you drink with a straw out of the coconut, fresh papaya. Yes, I miss that. My fat tummy is shrinking and now there are bags of tummy skin!! lol!! I don't tire of the mountain walk overlooking Coonoor valley. It is lovely....most slopes covered with tea bushes. They pick every two weeks. I watched them load huge 20 kg packs of fresh green tea leaves onto a truck to deliver to the collection shed.

Tuesday June 21 Ayurvedic Retreat, near Coonoor
Good morning!! Today was routine at the Ayurvedic Retreat. I had all the treatments, walks, yoga, and started ghee again. ( beginner dose). Taking ghee is hard on you emotionally and physically. You get really tired, but keep up with massages and yoga. Being active is key. I went to the cooking class, which really interests me, but I need a good Ayurvedic cook book, and I got the details of the recommended book. Keeping low carbs is a good option for me. The weight is starting to go down. I can now do yoga poses without a fat gut getting in the way. I do feel better, and I am getting stronger slowly. On my return to Canada, I plan to eat mainly vegetarian, but will not be slavish. However, I will try to keep to some Ayurvedic principles that are very healthy. Cooking will be a new part of my life, and cooking with herbs, spices too, but not too much. Many herbs are healing, some spices are lovely but not that good for me on a regular basis. Ayurvedic cooking is not fatty, but I will certainly reduce the carbs. For me, quality of life is in purifying the body and mind by showing restraint with food. This is a spiritual value that I want to work on. Our society is based on more of everything, including food, so I want to try and live a life of less in everything. Indians, mostly live with way less than we do. More, for me, is not better quality of life. We all make our own choices.
Thanks for checking in.

Monday June 20 Ayurvedic Retreat
Felt energized after a good night's rest following purgation. Great yoga sessions, three times today. Massage was the oil with abrasive ( for weight loss ) then the steam/oil herb enema. Had a good walk before breakfast, and did the breathing yoga ( pranayama) and meditation too today. Doc is putting me on ghee till further notice, and so I will bite the bullet!! Check out the new sheets on my bed today!! Nothing much to report, but it was great to have Sheimugan our yoga teacher back. I did attend an Ayurveda class but when the room started to fill with water, the class ended abruptly!! Some faucet had been turned on inadvertently. A good day with good energy. Thanks for checking in.

Sunday June 19 Ayurvedic Retreat Centre: Indian Hindu Festival fun!!!!
Purgation day. Not a day to report the details, but took the pills at 6:30 AM went for a half an hour. Then the wait began. No breakfast, only hot water. I am to drink hot water every 20 minutes. The purgation went fine, and was done before lunch . After lunch unfortunately it started again till 3 pm. I took rehydration powder. Feeling weak, I slept. 4:30 APM I went for a walk. I stumbled upon the third day of a Hindu Festival, worshipping a female God but I can't remember the name. The shrine was bedecked with flowers, and lit, and highly decorated. Good for the eyes. As I arrived, the men were involved in rope pulling ( or tug of war, as we call it in elementary school ). Here it is men only. I participated twice!! I was asked again, but declined as I didn't want to get hurt when everyone falls down!! This to the accompaniment of a row of drums, beating furiously. Did I tell you this all took place on the road side and partly ON the road. Cars slowed to a stop as people were all over the road. It was a big competition. Then I went up to the shrine area and they had a fire pit. Apparently there had been fire walking at 3pm which I missed. They arranged chairs around the rectangular fire pit. Loud music played and the women only did the musical chairs for prizes. Everyone was sitting around. One man was holding a gorgeous little girl in a cute yellow dress. He asked me to hold here, and he took pics of me. There were many many pics taken, some guys wanted a pic with my hat on!! Some of the men wore dhotis, long white or coloured traditional wrap arounds to their feet. They insisted on showing me how they were fitted with pockets velcro etc
I was weak from the purgation, and wanted to go but was persuaded to stay and watch the prizes being awarded. Most of the prizes were stainless steel mugs or plates. I was ushered to the front, and asked to award the main plaque, the big prize to the men't rope pulling. CHEERS, and whistles. Drumming!! I am so sorry but I didn't expect to see all this and left my phone camera behind!! Above the road were many strings of leaves, mango leaves I think, that are always hung over the road for a festival. Hindus worship many gods. It was an experience I won't forget. You get treated like a celebrity, being the only white face. Everyone wants to shake your hand. The kids were dancing madly especially boys joined in with the men. All fun. Thanks for checking in.

Saturday June18 Ayurvedic Retreat
Had the early morning yoga class, then the big dose of ghee. Swallow it and don't taste it!! It is day 4 of ghee, and tomorrow is purgation!! I went for a half hour walk. No breakfast. I have lost 7 pounds but I need to lose way more. The day was spent doing the steam/ and enema. I did the 4:30 PM yoga class, and went for a long walk in the mountains around the retreat centre. Then dinner, blogs and bed. The electricity has been off for most of the day.

Friday June 17 Ayurvedic retreat, near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu
Up early and led, or facilitated the morning yoga. It was much of a collaborative effort as we tried to continue with Sheimugan's program. It went well, and we did as much as we could.
After yoga, I took 90 ml of ghee, warmed of course for breakfast. I knocked it down with fresh lime, and some warm water. No food allowed for breakfast. So far so good. The ghee concentrates the toxins in your body and on Sunday purgation happens..lol!!
At noon it was a very small yoga class, but we enjoyed it, and collaborated together, as we did in the evening. I went for a walk after the evening yoga, and had dinner, and then off to bed. Thanks for checking in. This is a period of weight loss and wellness for me so no more fun touring.

Thursday June 16 Ayurvedic Retreat, near Coonoor
Last day of yoga with Sheinmugan who goes on PD Friday and Saturday. I will teach the yoga classes on those days!! My ghee dose was increased but it made no difference to me. We have a guy from California who has joined us, as well as the Kuwaiti Sheik, who provided us with the most delicious dates I have ever tasted. My ration was one as I'm on ghee. The Indian philosophy on weight loss is to stop eating before you are full.I agree. They always drink warm water with meals...this I love. It is way better for the digestive system instead of cold water and ice in a Canadian restaurant when it is minus 25 outside. Water is good for us all.
Chagan is leaving on family business. He is a Hindu guy, and quite hilarious, and makes jokes all the time. We all like him a lot. He is the cook, one of two cooks. When you go into the kitchen you smell this lovely aroma of fresh spices. I plan to buy my spices at the Indian markets in Edmonton. People like this make life a lot of fun. He seems to like us all, and chats away in Hindi to the Indian women here.
Steam box and enema happen this afternoon for weight loss. This is the price of overeating on my holiday. I had the dark brown oil abrasive scrub massage this morning for weight loss. After acupressure, I went to the advanced yoga class. Some was impossible for me, and most was challenging, but I hang in, and respect my own limitations. I went for a walk in the rain, had dinner and headed for bed. Thanks for checking in.

Wednesday June 15 Ayurvedic Retreat Centre , near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu:Day 1 Ghee
Sunni brings the pills at 6 AM. I shower and go to yoga. Weather is fantastic here...gorgeous days, sunny but cool. After yoga I took the ghee, and swallowed it fast. You take limes before and after it. I didn't feel too bad, and went for a walk fairly slowly. No breakfast allowed!! You are not supposed to do strenuous exercise with ghee. Lunch was a light soup only, but I didn't feel too bad. Dinner tonight was a regular one, but very little rice. Fresh cherries for dessert. Pills after dinner. It was a good day.great yoga, and pranayama. The swami arrived, and I met him at lunch.
Massage changes when you take ghee. I had a powder massage. Well.....it has no powder at all. You are pasted with oil which has some kind of abrasive in it. The massage guys said I looked Indian, as my entire body was brown. You are spared the pics!! The massage guys actually wash you after with a green paste to remove the oil. This treatment was followed by yoga!!
After lunch the swami gave a talk in the yoga room. Interesting. He is a traveller, and has no income. People feed him, and give him shelter. He talks to people but does not ask for money. He has travelled the world and had some very interesting stories to tell.
Above and below: In the steam box....20 minutes, followed by enema!!

Tuesday June 14 Coonoor, Tamil Nadu
First day back after Chennai. I am tired, but did all the yoga classes, meditation, pranayama, massage sessions, and the nature walk. Last day of the pounding massage where they pound you with bags of herbs ( heated) to help you lose weight. It was a good day. My last regular dinner. We certainly don't overeat here, but it is nice to enjoy the food. My stomach will be reducing from tomorrow, as ghee starts. Ghee is a clarified oil that you drink. It brings toxins from the body to the stomach, and the purging happens day 5. Sorry no pics today...it was a day to get through. Pills are delivered to your door easy morning, pills and a black drink at lunch, and pills at supper time, and pills and black sludge to take before bed!! Every night!! Don't feel sorry for me! The women are great company here, and help me through . Sheinmugan the yoga teacher, is great. It is always difficult to understand his English, but he sure knows his yoga, and his acupressure. Every day I get a half hour of acupressure with him. It has helped me. I usually sleep during the acupressure...lol. He always does reflexology on me too, and manipulates one's feet.

Sunday June12 Ayurvedic Retreat, Tamil Nadu
Sunday is the holiday here, so no yoga, or meditation. You do your own, and go for walks. The staff are incredibly hard working here, and do a fantastic job. Yes, I am really enjoying this place. I met the taxi at 1 PM and he drove me to Coimbatore. It is a scary journey by road, but my driver was very experienced. At night half the vehicles do not have lights, and you descend via hairpin bends, and traffic is heavy always, with many huge busses, motor bikes, lots of trucks. Monkeys abound on the sides of the road. I got to the airport in time, and in an hour or so got to Chennai. The humidity is scary, and way way too hot. The ride to the hotel was long, and it was a cheap hotel as I tried to save money. The hotel room was acceptable but the area not very good. The next morning, after a nice coffee, I met friends from Pondicherry who helped me navigate by foot around Chennai. The first job was to draw money. It took literally hours to achieve: every bank turning me down!! I have no idea why this happened, and not does my bank, whom I have contacted. No money for taxi to return to the airport, no money for food, drink in the heat. I tried to find the Canadian embassy for help but found that they had relocated to another city!! I returned to the hotel, checked out, and had a fiasco over my passport as they thought my visa had expired. ( They looked at my old visa!) At every turn, everything went wrong. At last, I found English pounds in my wallet, exchanged them for rupees. Thank goodness as I could not have flown out of the city!! The trip to the Indian embassy was a waste of time. They were no help at all, and quite unpleasant. So, I will probably return to the UK at the

So, I will probably return to the UK at the beginning of July.
I spent most of the day at the airport, freezing with the air conditioning. One delightful thing happened. I left my glasses case with some documents in it, in the taxi the previous night. As I entered the airport, the taxi driver saw me, and yelled. I knew he had my glasses case. He took me to his taxi, and gave them to me. I thanked him, gave him a nice tip, thought him watermelon juice at the airport cafe, and he insisted on holding my baggage all the way, and refused another tip.
I arrived in COIMBATORE about 6:15 PM and my taxi drive was not there. I had lost his phone number, and was thinking of getting another taxi to Coonoor when he did show up. He is a good driver, and he navigated a scary trip home in the dark up the mountains, with half the vehicles with no lights, hairpin bends, very scary traffic scenarios, but amazingly it all works out here in Indian. Only in India!! On arrival at the retreat centre I found that I had been locked out!! More uncertainty, as that was surely the theme of the day. I found uncertainty a challenge today. Anyway I called the guy who got me to the retreat, and he know the manager, and within 5 minutes the security guy arrived and let me in. They lock the front gate as bison walk in during the night and eat all the flowers.
Well, the learning was that one should just embrace uncertainty, even if it gets scary as it did today. Everything usually works out and it sure did for me today. I don't want to face this all again to fly to Sri Lanka, wait for a visa, and fly back. Enough is enough. Thanks for checking in!!

Above and below: this is Pandi, who returned my glasses case. My glasses would have been destroyed in travelling without a case, and I can't see without them. He insisted on a pic with my hat, which is always a favourite with locals. This is the English hat, as others got lost on the travels..lol!

Saturday June11 Wellington, outside Conoor, Tamil Nadu
Nothing to report from AYURVEDIC Retreat, Wellington just overlooking Coonoor. Peace and quiet, trying to lose weight and embrace wellness. It is pleasant being with the other guests, mainly women, in this lovely place. I will pack today as I fly to Chennai tomorrow to talk with the Indian Embassy about a July visa. Sorry no pics. Just the peace and quiet, which is great after the manic travelling I have done. That was great but we all need to recharge, especially when you have put on too much weight like I have. The ayurvedic approach is holistic and you have plenty of exercise as well as diet, and medications to help you along. No drugs of course but a healthy way to shed that belly. Remember the old dictum: a healthy body in a healthy mind. Thanks for checking in today. Have a wonderful day. I hope your weather is as wonderful as the weather in this lovely cool place. India is not all hot, although it is monsoon season in many parts.

Friday June 10 Ayurvedic Retreat
Great walk in the mountains overlooking Coonoor, with my English raincoat on and slight drizzle . So good, as I went alone, and got lost, no problem because I met some great Indian retired folks. Up here in the mountains the military personnel live in wonderful homes, with super views. The organic landmines (p00p ) was from bison walking down the road at night. You don't want to meet one on a dark road at night!!
Fantastic massage today, and deeper. The quality of service is fantastic. The doc is excellent, and you see him daily. The staff are very friendly, and this is a great place for detox, losing the belly and feeling much better. I have a great acupressure/relfexology guy who helps various aches and pains.
After lunch we went by taxi to Bedford to buy supplies. I hurried back for the bag pounding massage. Each basis about 15cm circumference and filled with various herbs. Good for weight loss, and various other benefits.
Above: A new way to eat a mango. Slice off large chunks against the pit. Eat slice by pulling flesh towards you. Other side of slice do the same, and you are left with the skin.
Above and below: The twins.....this fern was productive

Below: Mangosteen. I had two. You eat the white centre not the red pulpy outside. It is incredibly good for you. Check it out on Google. Not available in North America or other parts. It is a delicacy.

Thursday June 9 Wellington: Ayurvedic retreat
Today was much the same as yesterday. The routine of massage, pills, consultations, yoga/medtation is good. My body is responding to the vegetarian diet, and the yoga is releasing muscular stress, and I can now do more. Belly fat is just not acceptable. I am starting to feel better. The serious weight loss systems have not happened yet. I went into town, Bedford for shampoo, to pick up my laundry, and see the travel agent. I booked a flight from Coimbatore to Chennai for Sunday night. I will go by taxi from here to the airport. I will stay overnight in Chennai and go to the Indian embassy in person to plead my case for a July visa. I plan to wear my OM T shirt!! It would be great if they renew my visa, and save me the cost of flying to Sri Lanka to renew it. We'll see.
I am keeping up with the 2 1/2 hours of yoga. Some of the asanas I can't do, but that's always ok. Most I can do, and I'm improving with more yoga, sleep, pills, great diet etc. I'm not missing red meat!! It is a retreat, and restful but tiring with the exercise. I hope to lose a lot of weight!! The staff are great. My yoga teacher is Sheimugan. I think that is how you spell it. He is Tamil. Classes are quite hectic, and some of the poses quite advanced. It is stretching my capabilities. He does the acupressure too, and is trying to help me deal with a left hand tremor. You really need your sleep here, and I am so enjoying this place. It took me long enough to find it.

Wednesday June 8 Ayurvedic retreat centre at Wellington outside Coonoor
First full day at the retreat centre. 6 AM knock on the door for pills before breakfast. 6:30 AM yoga in the hall, with a great window view of the forest. Yoga was great. Followed by a great nature walk for half an hour, circular walk with the western ladies doing retreat here. Breakfast at 8:30 AM...on the lawn with the birds, a monkey smelt the food and walked on the roof towards us. Fresh air and great food, super healthy, not fatty Indian food, and not too spicy either. Herbs are always fresh out of the garden, ginger teas, chai etc. The cook is hilarious, a Tamil guy, and unlike most Indian men is slim with a fat tummy. I went for the Ayurvedic massage which was very good, totally different, done with two therapists in harmony. There are breaks during the day, and I do acupressure for a half hour every day. Reflexology is part of it. Then weight loss yoga for a half hour ( I need this. I am on weight detox!) Oh and you have a consultation with the doctor too before that. Lunch on the lawn under sunshades. Good, good. There is a break after lunch and a half hour weight loss massage, which is dry. You get pounded by two men with bags of herbs. The bags are heated and they go up and down your body, and reheat it each time for the next time!! Tea time was 4 PM only raw peanuts to eat for a snack, and then yoga for an hour ( great) followed by pranayama ( breathing meditations with mudras ( hand/finger positions) ) for a half hour, then meditation for a half hour. The meditation is done with various mudras that change after a while. A break, and then dinner, which is very good. You are tired at the end of the day!! I have wifi in my room which is great. It was a good day.

Tuesday June 7 Coonoor: move to Ayurvedic Retreat Centre from hotel
Very early and stressful start to the day dealing with issues with the hotel. The tuk tuk was late, and had to draw cash to pay the hotel. Made it eventually and got to the Ayurvedic Retreat. I was quite stressed, and took a while to feel calm. However I feel it has been totally worth it. I feel at the end of the first day here that this was what I have been looking for in my travels in India. Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healing through diet, yoga, natural remedies, Indian vegetarian food, ayurvedic massage. I had an excellent massage today. I would need to explain it but it is nothing like a western massage. The weight loss yoga was quite strenuous and I attended an intermediate yoga class and fared quite well. Meals are great and I have been on various medications all day. The place is beautiful and although it is monsoon season, and it did rain a few times today, it is cool here, and quite gorgeous. The accommodation is great, and the place totally safe. I had all three meals today, and they are all super healthy. I have met some people from all over the world here, whites mainly. We also went into Bedford ( Coonoor) and I took my laundry to the Indian laundry that is apparently quite good, but there are water problems, despite all the rain. I'm sure it will be resolved soon. I have now decided to go to Chennai to sort out the pressing problems of an Indian visa. I have to leave the country by the end of June, so I will go face to face with Indian officials in CHENNAI to discuss my case. At least I will have information which I lack right now. If I'm not careful I will create huge problems of double airfares, and lost airfares. I am keeping positive, and doing what I can. I have good help from good Indian people here. It has been a super day here and I feel great on whatever the pills and potions I am taking. The yoga is a treat, and my body is responding well....it desperately needed the yoga, and great exercise etc.
