Monday June 6 Coonoor: last day at Vivek hotel: uncertainty creates a new plan

Yoga 8 AM on the lawn at Taj. Vinod knows a lot about yoga.  He has helped me a lot. I leave 7:30 AM tomorrow morning for the Ayurvedic Retreat just outside Coonoor. I was taken around and shown the place and I'm very very impressed. The price was right, and it is an established place. I will start a rigorous program of yoga/meditation/consultation/detox/nutritional advice/walks etc tomorrow. I hope to lose a lot of weight and improve my health. The big issue is the visa for July. I have not made any progress in understanding the Indian regulations for the application of a July visa. Too much to explain here.

I spent time with the travel agent discussing flights to Sri Lanka but nothing can be done until the visa procedure is clarified. Then I went to the Coonoor market and bought some cotton yoga pants for Rob and myself. Some time was spent relaxing etc. It was a good day overall.

I spent some time watching the hotel guys play cricket. They had lost some tennis balls that were hit, so I bought them more tennis balls. Thought it was the least I could do. I went for a long walk into town with an Indian friend. I went places I would never go alone, but I was safe with him as he knew where to go. He arranged a tuk tuk for my departure from this hotel tomorrow. While he arranged the ride with friends I just stood and looked at the business of life at 7 PM in central Coonoor.....so much traffic etc and high activity. Balerji took me to meet his brother and family. His brother works for the government and he gave me some good advice about how to manage my visa difficulties with the Indian government. The plan right now is to fly to Chennai, and directly talk with the Indian Embassy officials to work out visa with them directly, or fly on to Sri Lanka to reapply for a July visa. However I need a guarantee from Indian officials that I won't be stranded in Sri Lanka with no option to return to India. What fun all this is!! Thanks for checking in. I hope that some of the visa headaches will be resolved soon.
