Wednesday June 8 Ayurvedic retreat centre at Wellington outside Coonoor

First full day at the retreat centre. 6 AM knock on the door for pills before breakfast. 6:30 AM yoga in the hall, with a great window view of the forest. Yoga was great. Followed by a great nature walk for half an hour, circular walk with the western ladies doing retreat here. Breakfast at 8:30 AM...on the lawn with the birds, a monkey smelt the food and walked on the roof towards us. Fresh air and great food, super healthy, not fatty Indian food, and not too spicy either. Herbs are always fresh out of the garden, ginger teas, chai etc. The cook is hilarious, a Tamil guy, and unlike most Indian men is slim with a fat tummy. I went for the Ayurvedic massage which was very good, totally different, done with two therapists in harmony. There are breaks during the day, and I do acupressure for a half hour every day. Reflexology is part of it. Then weight loss yoga for a half hour ( I need this. I am on weight detox!) Oh and you have a consultation with the doctor too before that. Lunch on the lawn under sunshades. Good, good. There is a break after lunch and a half hour weight loss massage, which is dry. You get pounded by two men with bags of herbs. The bags are heated and they go up and down your body, and reheat it each time for the next time!! Tea time was 4 PM only raw peanuts to eat for a snack, and then yoga for an hour ( great) followed by pranayama ( breathing meditations with mudras ( hand/finger positions) ) for a half hour, then meditation for a half hour. The meditation is done with various mudras that change after a while. A break, and then dinner, which is very good. You are tired at the end of the day!! I have wifi in my room which is great. It was a good day.
